Serbia and Montenegro began the UEFA European Under-19 Championship second qualifying round in emphatic style with a resounding 4-0 victory against Norway in Knokke-Heist.

The result will leave Miodrag Martac's team in good heart for their meeting with the Republic of Ireland, beaten 1-0 by Belgium on Wednesday, on Friday. Norway coach Knut Tørum faces a difficult task as he attempts to lift his side for the match against the mini-tournament hosts, which also takes place on 21 May.

Two goals from Milan Purovic midway through the first half put Serbia and Montenegro in complete control at the KFC Heist stadium. The forward opened the scoring in the 21st minute and doubled the lead five minutes later.

Igor Burzanovic effectively wrapped up the win with a third goal five minutes before half-time, and the same player rounded off a fine team display in the final minute, scoring his second and Serbia and Montenegro's fourth of the match.
