No longer operating. I'd go Croatia instead.

Skip Bosnia completely ? What's this
Read repairs on the rail is delaying the reopening of it.

Surely coach travel would be possible, though dunno how reliable the schedules you can find on internet are and if it'd be a hassle to book it at the coach station if nothing is possible online.

Don't listen to him, worst god damn promoter of our country ever.

I would focus on Sarajevo simply because it's larger and more vibrant, you can't cover everything in one day. It has more to offer no matter if you're there to party or visit museums. Mostar is great and the old town is beautiful but it's not really a huge part of the city. If you're there for the typical tourist experience it shouldn't take more than a day to see everything.

Going to the Adriatic sea is not a bad idea at all but I don't have any experience going by bus, so that might be a bit uncomfortable knowing our roads. During the summer the temperature can easily rise to 30+ in Sarajevo and even higher in Mostar, having a couple of days in Croatia (or Neum ) can be very pleasant after roaming the streets in BiH.

The train ride between Sarajevo and Mostar will be back in time for next summer. I'd recommend going to Sarajevo, taking the train to Mostar and then taking a day trip to Kravica waterfalls and Pocitelj (a small 16th century Bosnian town near the Croatian border).

If you need any help regarding logistics feel free to ask.

There's a bus from Mostar to Split/Dubrovnik in Croatia which I took two years ago and it wasn't too bad.

Mate, he said that he wants to take the train next summer, not now. The line opens back up in April next year.

Wally it really depends what you want to see, how much time you want to spend, what interests you and so on. I'm in BIH every few months and I have visited most interesting places between Sarajevo and Mostar. You can also send me a pm if you prefer that.

I'm more of a stroller. Like visiting the odd museum, religious place of worship then get lost while walking.

The centrotrans link looks good. Should help.

What's tourism in Bosnia like btw? when I spent a day in Belgrade city centre during a long stopover, I only came across Russians. The Exit Festival in Novi Sad is probably the main attraction in Serbia at the moment for younger tourists. Rest is not really well known, though Belgrade's flight connections are now improving. Could I again not come across a fellow Dutchman? which would be a relief.

The top 10 nationalities who visited last year (2015) were:

1 Croatia 84.058
2 Turkey 70.655
3 Serbia 66.473
4 Italy 50.346
5 Slovenia 45.635
6 Poland 31.681
7 South Korea 29.973
8 Germany 25.516
9 Austria 18.911
10 United States 18.361

With somewhat of a rise in Arab tourists in the last few months as well.

If you're interested mainly in cultural and historical monuments (as I am) then you should definitely consider the route Sarajevo-Mostar-Stolac-Pocitelj as they all have museums, old towns and centuries-old places of worship.
