MLB 2012

Opening Day saw Mariners win 3:1 against the A's in Japan, with Ackley getting the first HR of the season.

The stateside portion of the regular season will start April 4 in Miami, Florida, with the opening of the new Marlins Park, as the newly renamed Miami Marlins host the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. The season is scheduled to end on Wednesday, October 3.

The Major League Baseball postseason was expanded to include a second wild card team in each league beginning in the 2012 season. The season will mark the last for the Houston Astros as a member of the National League. Following the sale to new owner Jim Crane, the Astros agreed to move to the American League effective in the 2013 season, and will be assigned to the American League West, joining their in-state rivals, the Texas Rangers.

The second wild-card is interesting, but it will just be a one game playoff between the two wild card teams. I understand they don't want to extend the playoffs any further but I'd rather they cut 20-30 games from the regular season to expand the playoffs to a NFL style

Dodgers sold to Magic Johnson's group for 2 billion dollars. Good times are finally returning to Dodger Stadium

After watching the Rangers give away two shots at the World Series, I am still a bit depressed about the season. Don't look better either, not at all convinced about the rotation and Hamilton also fell off the wagon in the off season. Back to the horrible Rangers of old.

so many 1:0 games :howlers:

Mets actually are very good historically on opening day, then it usually goes down hill from there

Nah, they still have a very strong lineup and a brand new Japanese ace in Yu Darvish who is set to make his debut tonight! I'd be surprised if they don't get one of the 2 wild-cards, or perhaps even take the west.

April 16th and not only are the Mets still better than the Yankees but they have the 4th best record in baseball

Just a quite recap of what has happened in the first two weeks

AL: Rangers are the only team dominating, with the Tigers close behind who should win their division easily. Already problems in Boston where they are 4-6 and Bobby V called out Youkilis publically.

NL: Mets, Dodgers and Nationals off to flying starts, with the Dodgers being the best team in baseball (9-1). Brian Wilson of the Giants could be out for the season

Again, its still very early, to me you can't take these results seriously until Memorial Day and even that is still maybe too early

That Detroit 3-4 is something with Miggy and Prince. Rangers getting a reasonably good start. Yu Darvish though hasn't been as advertised though. But the line-up is looking good. Michael Young, Kinsler, Hamilton and Beltre are tearing it up. Once Cruz picks up it will be in top gear. I guess if they get an arm before trade deadlie for the rotation and a couple for the bullpen, this team can make a deep run for the playoffs.

reminds me of this gem:

@EricStangel

5 runs in 3 innings. Apparently "Yu Darvish" is Japanese for "AJ Burnett."

AL East is the only 'competitive' division (can't really use that word as they all have been bad so far), every other division has one team running away with it

Thanks Guys...Looking forward to many more outings to Marlins Park.

In the late 60's. early 70's I spent tons of time and money @ Shea Stadium...

Waited this long to finally be in a city with a true baseball park..In all the years the Marlins played so far from the city center of Miami I refused to go to a Mammoth footbal stadium..

My wish has come true.
